advance australian film (a documentary)

By Courtney Dawson on 26 January 2012

While Australia has produced an array of highly acclaimed features over the years, interest in Australian Cinema has been experiencing a steady decline. It’s been over 20 years since Baz Luhrman’s Strictly Ballroom (1992) reached number one at the Australian Box Office, and no other Australian film has reached these heights in audience engagement since. As an independent [...]

film review: melancholia

By Courtney Dawson on 15 December 2011

Lars Von Trier’s new film Melancholia attracted some controversy at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival earlier in the year when the director claimed that he sympathised with Hitler. As a result, he was named ‘persona non grata’ and was dismissed from the Festival, but the leading lady Kirsten Dunst rightfully won the Best Actress Award. Melancholia, which has been [...]

The New York inspired culture festival known as ‘The Boroughs’, toured the major cities in October, promising bands, DJs, art installations, galleries, pop-up cinema, market stalls and fashion displays. FEMALE PERCEPTIONS PROGRAM

Every woman’s got one, but what exactly should they look like?

We are conducting a study to examine women’s perceptions of normality and abnormality in a very personal part of the anatomy - women’s genitalia. Taking part in the study involves viewing a range of images of women’s vaginas.

Understanding women’s opinions of what is normal is vital to help understand and promote positive body image. We are seeking women between 18 and 30 who are willing to give us half an hour of their time. Note that the study involves viewing and rating a series of explicit images.

This study forms part of a PhD research project being conducted at The University of Queensland. The study has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the School of Psychology.

If you are interested in taking part in this confidential study please contact Claire on 04000 65945 / c.moran1@uq.edu.au, School of Psychology.
