the green-eyed monster and samantha brick

the green-eyed monster and samantha brick

By Dunja Nedic on 15 April 2012

Even in the vitriolic playground that is the Internet, rarely have I seen the kind of hostility that has been levelled at Samantha Brick after ‘Why women hate me for being beautiful’ was published. As I read through the countless comments, I wasn’t surprised to read many merely accusing Brick of not being good looking [...]

interview: clairy browne & the bangin’ rackettes

By Dunja Nedic on 12 April 2012

Much like everywhere else (just about), soul music has seen something of a revival in Australia over the past few years. We’ve embraced Adele, the late Ms Winehouse, and Duffy into our hearts and our iTunes playlists. But despite the popularity, there have been rather few Australian artists riding the wave with these successful Brits. [...]

love out loud: ex does not hit the spot

love out loud: ex does not hit the spot

By Dunja Nedic on 11 April 2012

Many moons ago, I took pride in never having had sex with an ex-boyfriend. My badge of honour was in vain, however, as up until 2009, I’d never actually had much desire to do the horizontal dance of danger with someone I was no longer seeing. When you don’t want to do something, it’s not [...]

adelaide fringe theatre review: just like the movies

adelaide fringe theatre review: just like the movies

By Dunja Nedic on 2 April 2012

I do understand that the goal of most Adelaide Fringe theatre productions (or indeed, any and all arts productions) is not to appeal to me, personally. And yet, as I watched Just Like The Movies at the cosy Paper String Plastic, I wondered if maybe this one had been tailored specifically for me, such was [...]

q&a: kim boekbinder

By Dunja Nedic on 1 April 2012

With many in the music industry lamenting the digitalisation of music and the death of conventional distribution, Melbourne-based New Yorker, Kim Boekbinder, has got her eyes looking firmly forward. Embracing the Internet’s ability to share her music and creative process with fans, she has launched a subscription service allowing her followers to join her on [...]

If you were lucky enough to get a ticket to one of the shows on Aqua’s recent Australian tour, you might recognise the tour support: Sydney electropop trio, Radio Ink! Lip was lucky enough to chat to the lovely Miss S about the band’s recent escapades both here and in the US! Describe your sound [...]

love out loud: let me count the lays

love out loud: let me count the lays

By Dunja Nedic on 28 March 2012

As much as I love telling people what to do, I try to use this column to share funny and ridiculous anecdotes, and make observations about my love life and those of my friends, rather than as an instructional guide. But whether it’s because my writing this column means that people assume I have the [...]

adelaide fringe live music review: the twoks

adelaide fringe live music review: the twoks

By Dunja Nedic on 26 March 2012

This is a really difficult review to write. I try to make all my reviews as balanced as possible, irrespective of whether I do or don’t know band members, like or don’t like a particular genre, etc etc. The problem with the Twoks’ performance at the Adelaide Fringe Festival this year, however, is that despite [...]

love out loud: can men and women understand each other?

love out loud: can men and women understand each other?

By Dunja Nedic on 14 March 2012

For a very brief period some time ago, I enjoyed buying self-help books from op shops. I can’t remember why I did this, as I tend to avoid self-help sections for the most part (though this might just be my idealised self-image; upon reflection, I also used to go to Borders with a friend and [...]

adelaide fringe theatre review: status update, a guide to early 21st c life

By Dunja Nedic on 12 March 2012

Over the course of my creative arts degree, I had to do a couple of subjects in screenwriting. I liked them, but given that my interests are in poetry and nonfiction, these subjects never seemed quite as useful to me as did others. Until I saw Status Update. Thanks to said subjects, I was able [...]

    FEMALE PERCEPTIONS PROGRAM

Every woman’s got one, but what exactly should they look like?

We are conducting a study to examine women’s perceptions of normality and abnormality in a very personal part of the anatomy - women’s genitalia. Taking part in the study involves viewing a range of images of women’s vaginas.

Understanding women’s opinions of what is normal is vital to help understand and promote positive body image. We are seeking women between 18 and 30 who are willing to give us half an hour of their time. Note that the study involves viewing and rating a series of explicit images.

This study forms part of a PhD research project being conducted at The University of Queensland. The study has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the School of Psychology.

If you are interested in taking part in this confidential study please contact Claire on 04000 65945 / c.moran1@uq.edu.au, School of Psychology.
