Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has reportedly become the first person of her title to officiate at a same-sex wedding.

The New Civil Rights Movement reported the news after a photograph of Justice Ginsburg as officiate was released by the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday.

The wedding was between Michael Kaiser, President of the Kennedy Center, and John Roberts. ‘Michael Kaiser is a friend and someone I much admire,’ Justice Ginsburg said in a written statement on Friday, ‘that is why I am officiating at his wedding.’

Justice Ginsburg told the Washington Post that she has plans to officiate at another same-sex wedding next month.

On June 26th Justice Ginsburg was part of the slim majority that ruled to defeat a key provision of the Federal Defense of Marriage Act that denied Federal recognition of same-sex marriages.
