A Melbourne GP who believes that women who have abortions deserve to die has been under investigation after he supposedly revealed on Facebook that he broke Victoria’s abortion laws, by not referring patients seeking abortions to the appropriate services and even actively attempting to talk women out of getting terminations.

Daniel Mathews, a lecturer from Monash University, took part in the social media exchange and was outraged by the doctor, known only as Dr. K’s comments about a woman dying from peritonitis after a back alley abortion. ‘Yep. And that’s exactly what she deserved for trying to kill her own child’ was Dr. K’s response to the woman’s death.

Dr. Mathews saved the entire thread because he was so appalled by what he had read. Dr K also states, ‘Yes, I’m breaking Victoria’s new abortion laws, but I don’t give a stuff – I am not going to soil my conscience by being complicit in the slaughter of children’.

This matter has been under the attention of the Doctors’ Conscience Group, who have been appealing to have patients looking for abortion procedures to be examined under doctors who have no objections to abortive procedures, rather than those who do.

The Napthine government just last week ruled out changes to any of Victoria’s abortion laws ahead of another investigation into Mark Hobart, a doctor who refused to give a couple an abortion referral on sex-selective grounds.
