YWCa conference

Hey all,

Just a plug for an event run by the YWCA, one of our favourite orgs:

2 Days to Change Your World

Changin’ It, Lovin’ It

Young Women living LIFE, CAREER, COMMUNITY

Changin’ It, Lovin’ It is a two day national forum for young women hosted by YWCAs around Australia – www.ywca.org.au/young_womens_conference.php

The conference offers young women the opportunity to develop their professional and personal and skills, discuss issues specific to young women and get involved in the community through policy and advocacy initiatives at both the local and national level.

What’s Involved?

The program is packed with activities ranging from panel discussions focusing on contemporary issues for young women to hands on workshops on topics including campaigning, business management, environmental strategies, politics and careers. All workshops will be led by successful women in their field.

Both days will begin with inspirational key note speakers, a chance to gain insight into the perspectives of successful women such as the first AFL Commissioner, Sam Moyston; WNBL Basketballer, Narelle Henry and RU486 campaigner, Senator Judith Troeth.

As well as a professional development opportunity, Changin’ It, Lovin’ It will provide a platform for young women to explore the balance between life, career and community. Interspersed with the plenary sessions and workshops, delegates will have the opportunity to network, get energised through dance or pilates sessions and relax together over a drink and a performance on women and HIV, by renowned actress Annie Phelan.

The conference, to be held at Jasper Hotel in Melbourne on 13 and 14 April 2007, is open to all women aged 18 to 30. For more information see www.ywca.org.au or contact YWCA Australia on (02) 6230 5150 or email [email protected]
