The Ladder: Notebook Armageddon – The end of the world (of reason)

The Ladder: Notebook Armageddon – The end of the world (of reason)

By Jessica Hannah on 13 January 2012

Armageddon kicked off with intentions, recycled promises from magazines, friends or inspirational quotes, dredged up on creativity breaks, iTunes open and credit card ready. I intended to contribute online over the break, assuming the quiet life restricted my activities to a kind of socialised hermitage, emerging every so often bleary eyed and nerdy. Prior my [...]

jingle bell rock: six steps to yuletide insanity

jingle bell rock: six steps to yuletide insanity

By Jessica Hannah on 24 December 2011

On the first day of Christmas, Sydney city gave to me…an exorbitant parking fee I’ve never owned a car. Okay, that’s not entirely correct. It was bottle green with red interior, a 1980’s throw-back to Suzuki’s hey day, nudge bar and manual locking inclusive. I neglected Cornelius (another reason I shouldn’t have children, my penchant [...]

the ladder: shop-girl overture

the ladder: shop-girl overture

By Jessica Hannah on 15 December 2011

I’m uncertain. How to introduce myself? One usually extends a hand or smiles shyly, measuring tone and temper, testing the deep end before taking a running dive. A keyboard sequesters my hands, lyrics roll from my lips (Adelaide – Old 97’s) and I prefer the pool steps to avoid upper-wardrobe malfunction. I’m settling, instead, for [...]

    FEMALE PERCEPTIONS PROGRAM

Every woman’s got one, but what exactly should they look like?

We are conducting a study to examine women’s perceptions of normality and abnormality in a very personal part of the anatomy - women’s genitalia. Taking part in the study involves viewing a range of images of women’s vaginas.

Understanding women’s opinions of what is normal is vital to help understand and promote positive body image. We are seeking women between 18 and 30 who are willing to give us half an hour of their time. Note that the study involves viewing and rating a series of explicit images.

This study forms part of a PhD research project being conducted at The University of Queensland. The study has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the School of Psychology.

If you are interested in taking part in this confidential study please contact Claire on 04000 65945 / c.moran1@uq.edu.au, School of Psychology.
