Moonlight Cinema
Moonlight Cinema is an annual event held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth over summer from December through to March. Showcasing a variety of films that include new releases, classics and cult hits, a film under the stars is guaranteed to be an enjoyable experience that will please people of all ages. You can either bring your own picnic, or make it a night to remember by purchasing a Gold Grass ticket ($33), which entitles you to entry, a glass of wine and a reserved beanbag in a premium viewing location. Valentine’s Day earlier this week was sure to be a crowd-puller, as it provided the perfect opportunity to snuggle up with your loved one whilst watching the romantic comedy Heartbreaker (2010).
This year don’t miss the chance to see screenings of classics such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s on the big screen again, or cult films like Donnie Darko, Pulp Fiction and The Godfather. For the first time in Australia, there will also be screenings of selected 3D films including Jackass 3D, Megamind 3D, Tron: Legacy 3D, Sanctum 3D, The Green Hornet 3D and many others. The organisers even planned a night where patrons are allowed to bring their dogs along to the animated hit Despicable Me.
But my recommendation is to catch the ‘sing a long’ nights – this year Grease and The Rocky Horror Picture Show were screened and some enthusiasts pulled out their corsets and danced along to the Time Warp, which proved to be an entertaining edition to the evening!
