Being You
It’s something that many people struggle with doing – finding, owning and flaunting who you are and who you’re proud to be.
With her friendly, gorgeous smile and amazing message from the heart, Tara Mauger, owner of As Life Intended, speaks with passion about a very “simple message” in this brief youtube clip about simply being you!

“I’m going to be me, and you should be you!”
“Being me is the best thing I can be!”
“Be passionate about you!”
All of these quotes, are wonderful affirmations of encouragement for a very simple message: for us to be ourselves. A concept that is simple, yet still so complicated.
Maybe you’ve been stuck in a rut; absorbing all the social pressure out there to be tall, short, skinny, curvy, strong, abiding, caring, beautiful, successful, daring, rebellious or more. You may compare yourself not only to the stars and celebs that cover the T.V., film and music scene, but perhaps also ‘popular’ girls and guys in your school, university or work place. You might always find yourself striving to be better then what you think you are in comparison to them, without even realising you’re doing it.
Maybe you’ve found yourself adoring the ‘beautiful’ woman smothered on mainstream magazines listing their favourite brands, rituals and things to do. You might purchase a bottle of perfume simply because the life size cut out of Christina Aguilera may just give you a little bit of her confidence, or beauty. You might find yourself taking their picture in to the hair dressers to get a style just slightly similar to theirs, or buying a dress you saw them wear on the front cover.
Maybe you find yourself going out of your way to be different; setting new boundaries in your own life about why you shouldn’t fit a certain stereotype. Along with stories of infamous celebrities who claim to have been outcasts during their childhood and teenage years; we hear sayings such as “well behaved women rarely make history”; throughout our life we see and hear of people who stood out from the crowd and although ridiculed at the time, demanded to be accepted as they are. I wonder, does this perhaps, inspire us to further our exploration of who “you”really are?
Tara encourages further discovery into the journey of your personal self, and although it can take a lot of effort, life can become more flowing and liberating if you can simply embrace “you”.
So, whether the “you” you’re proud of is quiet and enjoys drinking cups of tea in faded jeans that you’ve been wearing since the 90’s, not because they’re a fashionable now but because you never stopped wearing them, whilst planning to take over the world, or you’re the the “you” that is bold, confident, and bought that dress not because someone famous looks good in that colour, but because you liked it and you don’t give a darn who’s going to tell you otherwise, seek it out and flaunt it.
So enough of ‘maybe’ and perhaps’, it’s up to you to decipher how to be you, because in the end, it’s your life. Be proud to simply be you.
