shopping the workshops
So, I mentored at the Y2Y career workshop on Thursday. It was good, but my only criticism is that it was too short. Maybe there were other workshop activities held throughout the day, and our bit was just for the 2 hours, but I would have liked more time talking to the girls about lip and publishing careers, and I think they would have liked a bit more time to ask me stuff.
Still, I’ve have 2 out of 2 positive experiences at these things, and look forward to more opportunities to do it again. The only thing I’ve got to sort out is my nerves at talking in front of large groups of people. They’re not butterflies in my tummy – they’re massive-huge bogon moths bashing about in there – making me talk faster than my lips can keep up with, just to get it over with.
Does anyone know of good ways to deal with pre-public speaking nerves?
