labels we love: matiko shoes

We are all familiar with Matiko – founded back in 2003 by Jesse Howard the label has since then been providing us with shoes that are beyond gorgeous and unbelievably comfortable – take it from me, I own two pairs. The label amalgamates European and South Californian styles effortlessly to produce shoes that are astronomically stylish and incredibly stunning. With a massive range that includes everything from flats and boots to pumps and wedges, Matiko can always be relied upon for a snazzy pair of shoes to give your outfit that extra kick it needs. I also love how these shoes are so perfectly balanced between being too ostentatious and tacky and too dull or boring.

Here are some of my personal favorites from their Summer 2011 collection –

•    Cavala – These silver beauties are about as close to perfection as you can get with metallic wedges. They’ve got a slight worn-in look to them, which makes it just shamzzy enough.

•    TY – More often than not, white shoes tend to look tennis-y (even the most amazing pairs like the Jeffrey Campbell Litas) but not these shoes. They’re chic and edgy and everything a girl looking to rage against the machine needs.

•    Shiloh – A great pair of nude heels is a must have in every girl’s closet. The soft curve of the strap that falls just below your ankle, the slightly rough finish and the peep toe are just a few small details that make this, in my opinion, the perfect nude heel.

•    Rosa – I’ve never been a big fan of flat sandals and here is why – when you wear a pair of heels, no matter how simple, it instantly makes your outfit look better. With flats it’s the opposite – they often make your outfit look lazy or just a little more casual than it’s meant to be. Cue Matiko’s Rosa. They have to be the holy grail of flat sandals – the little studs on the front, the playful strap of leopard print accented by the sexy silver leather strap – there is no way you can go wrong with a pair like this.

•    Betty – Every girl wishes her legs were just a little longer, a little more toned and just a little sexier, right? The Matiko Betty pumps give you just that – the inside cut out instantly makes your legs look ten times as gorgeous as they are. Need I say more?

•    Pocca – I’d be lying if I said that I thought these shoes were awesome for any reason other than that they remind me of a basketball. On a more technical note, the side cut outs make them perfect for the summer and the tiny dip in the front, believe it or not, actually makes your legs look longer which is always, always a plus.
