Celebs may get to silence media gossips

From news.com.au:

“CELEBRITIES could keep embarrassing personal details and candid photos away from the public gaze, under proposed laws.

Media outlets that rely on unauthorised photographs and news about celebrities may be forced to tone down their content under a new privacy regime being considered by the Federal Government.

This could be a heavy blow to gossip mags such as  Who WeeklyNew Idea as well as newspaper gossip columns and  “tabloid TV” programs.”

Do you think this is a good move on the part of the government? I wonder how this will affect Australian gossip mags – and will we see an influx of overseas magazines so readers can get their trash fix? Or will people move even more towards online media for their celeb gossip?
