Women only spaces on the rise in India.

After the 2012 New Delhi bus rape, a woman-only culture has blossomed in India, with women seeking out woman-only hotel floors, cabs and busses. In November the Indian government is launching a bank just for women, to empower them financially. The report rate of sexual violence in India has risen more than 25 per cent in recent years, perhaps due to the greater security these new spaces offer women. Rapist teacher guy walks free after just one month in prison.

Good one, System! After spending just 30 days in gaol, Montana teacher, who raped a 14-year-old student who later committed suicide, has walked free.  According to the judge, the student was ‘older than her age’ and ‘in control of the situation,’ which meant it was totally legit. Who usually quit. To become highly qualified professional wives.

Did you know that women make up only 20 per cent of Orchestra conductors!?

Marin Alsop, the principal conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, became the first woman to conduct the Last Night of the Proms, a 118-year-old London concert. Yeah, 118 years. As it turns out classical music has quite a lot of dicks on the dance floor, with women only making up 20 per cent of conductors in American orchestras. And guess what? Earlier this month, the conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic orchestra, Vasily Petrenko, upset everyone when he stated that apparently ‘orchestras react better when they have a man in front of them because a cute girl on the podium means that musicians think about other things.’ Wow.
