in brief: finally an elixir to cure high heel pain
An American plastic surgeon has created a product to numb the pain incurred while wearing high heels.
Produced by Biochemistry, Dr Randal D. Haworth’s Heel No Pain spray boasts that ‘no matter how high your towering stilettos… high heel pain will soon be a thing of the past’.
The product came about after Dr Haworth’s Beverly Hills practice saw clients asking for injections into their feet to create pads on the soles and reduce the soreness of their daily Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik habits.
Biochemistry brags its formula with lidocaine HCI will kill pain for about two to three hours.
A New York based events manager permanently in her stilettos was given a sample. ‘Obviously the discomfort of wearing heels doesn’t just magically disappear, but the pain – that pain that makes you want to take your shoes off, or sit down – was gone,’ she told the Daily Mail.
However, the spray will only provide a short-term solution to the orthopaedic issues of stilettos, platforms, pumps and wedges.
Raising your feet even an inch has a profound impact on the anatomy, Podiatrist Brenden Brown believes. ‘This deviated position puts an enormous amount of pressure on these small bones and the joints that connect the toes,’ he told the Sydney Morning Herald.
While there are basic problems like blisters and corns, extended high heel usage can result in arthritis, irritation of bone structures as well as issues with the leg, glute and abdominal muscles due to a tilted pelvis.
At USD$15 for 30ml, it begs the question whether there’s a simpler way for women to reduce the pain of wearing high heels than using Heel No Pain.
